About
Located in the rolling country-side of North Georgia, our farm offers a full featured dressage facility. Post Oak Horse Farm is located about 12 miles northeast of Gainesville, GA. Owned by Blanche Ettinger & Connie Thompson, the farm began as a place for them to keep the horses they so loved when their horses boarding facility closed. Connie needed a home for herself as well as her horses. Blanche, who lived on Lake Lanier, wanted a barn and pasture for her horses. The friends bought a piece of property & split it down the middle. Connie built her home & Blanche built her barn (with room to spare). They decided to share their properties as one. They knew they could have a better facility working together rather than separately.
It was not long until the two realized they needed a riding ring. They each had a young horse in need of training. It was not long after they built their first arena that trainer Julie Cochran needed a place to board and work the horses she had in training. Connie & Blanche invited her to come to their farm. There was plenty of room in the barn, a new arena, & both needed help training their young horses. Thus was started a relationship between Julie & Post Oak Horse Farm.
