Training

HORSES AND TRAINERS:

Post Oak Farm boards a variety of breeds – Friesian, Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse,  Hanovarian, Morgan, Arab, Trakainer, Connemara, Appaloosa, plus several crosses.  Our trainer, Julie, believes all horses can benefit from the discipline & exercise provided by dressage.  Most horses & riders are in training with Julie or her assistant Jennifer Manus.  Julie has trained her Hanovarian gelding, Posieden, from an unbroken 2 year old to Grand Prix.  She is extremely talented working with young horses as well as upper level horses.  Julie has broken, trained, shown, and sold dressage horses for people.  Julie is a USDF Gold Medalist, USDF Certified Instructor T-4 and a USDF “L” graduate with Distinction. Most students take at least 2 lessons a week on their horse, & have Julie work their horse at least 2 more days a week.  Some of her students want to show their horses, & Julie attends shows with them.  Other students just do it for their own pleasure & have no desire to show.  Either way, Julie is a great instructor & trainer.

Jennifer Manus, our assistant trainer, was “just about” born on a horse. Her mother, Camille Manus, operated a riding stable and summer camp “Windy Hill Farm” just outside Gainesville.  Jennifer helped her mom even when she was a small child.  She has shown, given lessons, and worked with horses all her life.  Under the tutelage of Julie, she is working on her bronze medal, training young horses, and teaching lessons.
